 Famous Pakistani Poet Himayat Ali Shair Passes Away

Renowned Urdu poet and lyricist passed away in Toronto, Canada today.

93-year-old, Himayat Ali was born in Aurangabad, India then later moved to Pakistan after partition.

Shair received the Presidential Award in 1958 for his poetry book ” Aag Main Phool”. Later, he started his career as a lyricist and received Nigar Awards for the the films Anchal (1962) and Daaman (1963).

In 2002, Himayat Ali Shair also received the Pride of Performance Award for his services to Urdu literature.
