Fallacies About Food You Believed All Your Life!

Fallacies About Food You Believed All Your Life!

What is life without food? Nothing! Some people eat to live and some live to eat.

Being born in a Pakistani family, we have grown up listening some facts about food which haunted us in our childhood or still haunt us, but have you ever thought whether those facts are true or not?

Here are some fallacies about food we believed our whole life.

1 – Drinking water after eating results in developing a belly

Almost everyone wants to be in a good shape and tries everything to stay fit!

Have you ever heard your mother or grand mother saying , ” Don’t drink water after your meal, otherwise you’ll have bulging belly”?

This statement is totally false! Since when water contains calories? The fact is water helps break down the bulk in food, facilitating digestion.

2 – Drinking Milk after Eating Fish Will Cause Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a non-communable long-term skin condition where pale white patches develop on the skin. It’s caused by the lack of melanin, a pigment in the skin.

Fish and Milk is the most deadly combination in our home and we trusted our parents and did no research. But there are no effects reported causing vitiligo after having this food combination neither no scientif research has proven this belief to be true. So don’t worry, you can have milk after eating your delicious fish.

3- Salt Causes High Blood Pressure

According to a reasearch In the 1940s, a professor used salt-reduction to treat people with high blood pressure and since then, people have started believing that salt is to be blamed for the increase in blood pressure.

The fact is that high blood pressure makes a person salt-sensitive, but that does not mean that it causes high blood pressure.

If somebody gets angry at you and blames eating “salty-food”, they’re lying!

4- Chocolate Causes Acne

Growing up you probably must have heard your mother warn you a thousand times, “Don’t eat too much chocolate or you’ll get pimples”, but that’s not true!

According to a scientific research, chocolate boosts the erotonin in the brain which produces a calming effect and stability. The main reason of having pimples or acne is “stress”. Have a chocolate and calm your mind.

5- Eating Carrots Will Improve Your Eyesight

How many of you had a poor eyesight and your mother made you drink “carrot juice”?

Our ancestors believed that carrots will improve eye sight and this ‘home remedy’ is shared from generation to generation.

The actual fact is, it was a rumor which was started by the British air force to fool the Germans during World War II. The British detected the German’s bombing planning, so they invented this fallacy that carrot will improve the eye sight and the pilots can see more clearly at night. The Germans got fooled and so did the rest of the world.

So old were you when you know all about these so called “facts”!
