Faisal Vawda says fighting between political parties affecting Karachiites

KARACHI: Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda on Thursday said the people of Karachi were getting affected because of the fighting between different political parties.

“Billions of rupees funds has been released to the provincial and local bodies governments but zero work was done,” Faisal Vawda said while addressing a press conference in Karachi’s Baldia Town.

He said if any work at all was done in Baldia Town it was done during his tenure.

While, the minister said, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers had not used any public fund neither of the province nor of the centre. He said everybody was doing what he owed to do.

“People are forced to live a worst life. The political parties should collectively work for the benefit of the citizens,” the PTI leader said.

Former mayor Karachi and Chairman Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Mustafa Kamal had on August 21 held Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar responsible for filth in Karachi.

On behalf of his party, Mustafa Kamal demanded from the government to place Waseem Akhtar’s name on the Exit Control List (ECL) so that he could not flee and be held accountable. He blamed the incumbent mayor of money embezzlement and said huge amount of money could be recovered from him.

“The city government still has this much funds that it could maintain parks, lift garbage and clean rainwater drains. The mayor lies that he does not has money,” he had said while addressing a press conference flanked by other PSP leaders including Anees Qaim Khani and Arshad Vohra in Karachi.

The ex-mayor had said a good work could be done in the amount of funds currently held by the city government.
