ISLAMABAD: The Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC) meeting chaired by Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood has decided that students would not be passed the following year without taking exams.
“Nobody will be promoted this year,” read a joint statement issued by the IPEMC from Islamabad on Monday. The IPEMC also announced that summer vacations would be reduced as already classes were suspended for so many days because of the coronavirus.
Examinations from grade 10 to 12 will be held first, it announced.
On May 22, the government of Sindh had announced that schools would remain closed till June 6 in 12 districts of the province. Those districts include Hyderabad, Sukkur, Nawab shah, Dadu, and Badin.
Furthermore, educational institutions in Islamabad, 20 districts of Punjab, 19 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan will resumed classes from May 24 (today).
