European Parliament demands from India to start dialogue with Pakistan over Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: Raising their voice for the oppressed Kashmiris, Members of the European Parliament have demanded from India to start dialogue with Pakistan.

The European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs has also demanded the Indian government to immediately lift curfew in occupied Kashmir that has created humanitarian crisis in the held territory.

Expressing serious concern over the continued lockdown, suspension of all communication means and media blackout in the held valley, the European Parliament strongly criticized India and condemned the Narendra Modi-led government for its brutal action that has brought life to standstill in the occupied Kashmir.

They said that the European Union and the European Parliament should issue a reactionary statement on the situation in the occupied Kashmir at the earliest.

On September 1, Referring to India’s revocation of special status for Kashmir, American politician of Democratic Party Senator Bernard Sanders had said India’s action against Kashmir was unacceptable.

“I am so deeply concerned about the (ongoing) situation in Kashmir, where the Indian government has revoked Kashmiri autonomy, crackdown on the saints, and instituted a communication blackout.

“The crackdown in the name of “security” is also denying the Kashmiri people access to medical care. Even many respected doctors in India have acknowledged that the Indian government imposed restriction on travel and threatening the life-saving care the patients need,” he had said while speaking to a public gathering.
