Entire nation will have to participate in ‘Jihad’ against corruption: PM Imran
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said the entire nation would have to participate in the Jihad against corruption.
“Anybody can participate in the anti-corruption campaign through this app,” PM Imran said while addressing the launching ceremony of ‘Report Corruption App’ on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day in Lahore.
He said when youth would realize that through identifying corrupt people they would develop their future, Naya Pakistan would definitely become a reality. Launching of the app would help Pakistan become a modern society, he maintained.
The prime minister lauded the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment’s “impressive performance” of recovering of billions of rupees embezzled in the province. State land worth Rs130 billion and Rs5 billion cash had been recovered by the ACE, and the recovered money would be spent on the masses, he said.
“I am stunned that people still are unable to connect corruption with them. People do not realize that the entire nation is to face the brunt when money is theft from the national exchequer,” he said.
He said the secret behind popularity of Chinese President Xi Jinping in his country was that he put more than 400 ministerial level people behind the bars in last six years for involvement in corruption.
“Regardless of the natural resources, the countries which do not have corruption are developed. Congo and Nigeria despite having abundance of natural resources are poor countries. Every modern and prosperous societies in the world puts emphasis on corruption. They would arrest the corrupt even after 30 years,” he said.
The prime minister said overseas Pakistanis had been reluctant in investing in Pakistan for fear of losing the money in corruption.
