Renowned fashion designer Khadija Shah urged people to minimise their social media activity and reflect on the deaths of several PTI protesters during a security operation in Islamabad.

Taking to Instagram, Shah stated, “I urge my friends not to post stories and videos of their social activities this weekend. Hundreds of innocent Pakistanis have died in a brutal massacre not far from any of you.”

She was referring to the violent crackdown on PTI workers marching in Islamabad to demand the release of former prime minister Imran Khan, who currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail.

Shah, who herself was jailed in connection with the May 9 cases, expressed dismay over the lack of sorrow following the deaths of several civilians in the capital.

“Apart from being thoroughly disrespectful, it makes one nauseous to see the lack of civic sense, empathy, and humanity in people,” she remarked.

She further stated, “One knows who has been blessed with privilege in this otherwise hapless country of 240 million. It’s also very difficult for those of us who are deeply affected to have any respect for you.”

On the night of November 26, security forces conducted a combing operation against PTI protesters, with reports suggesting dozens were killed and several others severely injured in alleged gunfire.

The incident sparked widespread outrage over the use of force against civilians.
