Federal Minister Aleem Khan is at the receiving end, especially after heavy flooding in his owned Park View society in Lahore.

Recent flooding in the Ravi River has severely impacted Park View City. Water overflow reportedly submerged parts of the society, prompting urgent evacuations.

Developers claim to have built a protective embankment and said there is “no danger at all.” Residents were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Official documents available with Dialogue Pakistan show the NOC for River Edge was issued to Senator Amaar/Waqar in 2006 during the tenure of Pervez Elahi as Punjab chief minister.

Later, the NOC was bought by Aleem Khan bought this from a bank to which it was pledged in 2010, along with all previous NOCs.

The Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) was established by the former prime minister Imran Khan and ex-Punjab CM Usman Buzdar in 2020 to develop a new city along the riverbank.

Ruda started giving NOCs to housing societies and charging money for them.

One of the main responsibilities of the authority was to build protection spurs/safety walls along with river to protect all the residential societies and also to protect Lahore and Sheikhupura cit, but it failed.
