Ehsaas Programme puts lives of FUUAST employees at great risk
KARACHI: The federal government’s Ehsaas Programme has put lives of employees of Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) at great risk, as people’s flocking towards the educational institute without observing any SoP could make it a coronavirus hotspot.
Gulshan Campus of FUUAST has been turned into a centre for receiving money by the deserving people under Ehsaas Programme for the last one and a half months. About 3,000 to 5,000 people visit the educational centre daily to receive money.
As per the federal government’s announcement, the university employees have resumed their jobs from June 1. They have to work during the same hours while there are thousands of people visiting the campus premises. This could spread coronavirus in employees. Teachers and other employees have informed FUUAST Vice Chancellor Dr Arif Zubair about the complicated situation, who has expressed helplessness over the matter.
The teachers and employees have demanded from the government to dissolve the Ehsaas Programme centre from the university right away and carry out fumigation at the campus. They have written a letter to Head of Ehsaas Programme Sania Nishter seeking redressal of their concern.
