Given the deteriorating coronavirus situation, the Sindh government has announced that it will not open all educational institutions in the province, including schools, from June 1st.
A statement issued by the Sindh government said that in view of the coronavirus pandemic the steering committee had met on May 12 to discuss the opening of private and public educational institutions.
Following the meeting, the Department of Education announced that all educational facilities, including colleges, will remain closed and would not reopen from June 1, and the date for reopening will be announced in view of the coronavirus situation.
The statement further said the students were transferred to the next grades from class I to VIII.
It may be recalled that the Sindh government had decided to close the school for two days after the first case of coronavirus was reported in Karachi on 26 February. The decision was, however, extended on 1 March, and the school was declared closed until 13 March.
Provincial Education Minister Saeed Ghani had initially declared the school’s reopening on March 16, but the decision was later reversed because of the situation.
