PESHAWAR: A threat alert has been issued which warns that universities and other educational institutes may be targeted in Peshawar.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education, Archives and Libraries Department has been notified by the Home and Tribal Affairs Department of KP about the threat asking it to take necessary measures against it.
The threat alert apprised that an Afghan terrorist group had planned to carry out terror attack in Peshawar.
The notification in this regard has been sent to all the police officers, heads of law enforcement organisations and educational institutes. The home department has directed the institutes to take preemptive security measures.
“It has been informed that Afghanistan based terrorist group is planning to carry out a terrorist activity in Peshawar or surrounding areas of Peshawar. As per available information, the group may target some educational institution or any other soft target in the area,” read the alert.
It said that to carry out the attack Terrorist Muzzamil son of Ameen (close relative of Commander Zaheer ul Islam) had reached Charsadda area from Afghanistan.
“It is therefore requested that the activities of the terrorists may be monitored besides adopting all kinds of precautionary/ preventive measures in your areas of jurisdiction to avoid any untoward incident,” it further added.
