Education ministers set formula for students’ promotion policy
All the provinces of Pakistan have decided on the formula of promotion policy for 10th and 12th grade students.
At the 32nd Inter-Provincial Ministry of Education Conference chaired by Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood, it was unanimously decided that marks for optional subjects would be counted.
The meeting has decided to facilitate students keeping in view the closure of schools due to Coronavirus restrictions. Thirty three percent marks will be given in the subject in which students fail. Five percent extra marks will be given in the compulsory subjects after extracting average marks.
The Board of Technical Education will also use the same method for students’ promotion policy. All provinces will give 50% grace marks in practicals.
The remaining 50% marks in all provinces will be given on the basis of theory. Smart syllabi will be taught and examinations will be conducted accordingly.
Smart syllabuses will be completed by April-May. Board exams will be held in May-June, the new academic year will start on August 22.
O level and A level examinations will be as per schedule. Universities will set their own timetables for exams. Universities across the country will open admission twice a year.
It is also proposed to conduct the examinations twice a year in May-June and the second time in October-November respectively. The participants of the meeting were informed that the vaccination of education sector across the country has been completed 99 percent.
