Education department announces Tablet PCs for teachers

PESHAWAR: Education ministry has announced a tablet computer policy for newly appointed teachers. This policy was passed 30th April, 2020, and will be effective for the teaching session of 2020-21. The policy is made to effectively deliver teacher professional development program.
It is made a compulsion for the newly recruited teachers to buy the tablets at full payment. However, later education department will reimburse 50% of the total amount per tablet. The department will also make provisions in its Annual Budget, to provide sufficient funds for this policy, under the District Grant-39, in PFC Awards.
The policy intends to increase the competency of the teachers and to aid them in their professional development. Education department will make 50% reimbursement on the cross cheques via DEO office, with maximum amount of 15000/-, upon showing the actual tablet purchase receipt, by the newly employed teacher, in his/her name. The guarantee/warranty and maintenance of the tablet will be the responsibility of the teachers. They will have to ensure the availability of the tablet at the induction program and for other professional development activities too.
An internal audit cell of the E & SED will be carried out in compliance to the Tablet PC Policy. The DEO office will maintain the records of list of teachers availing the policy, their CNIC numbers and their father’s CNIC numbers, contact details and date of appointment, the purchase receipt of tablet, copy of appointment letter, copy of cheque of 50% reimbursement, and copy of cheque duly signed by the teachers and respective departments.
