Edhi Foundation wins $1 million award for services to humanity

On Tuesday, the Edhi Foundation was presented with Isa Award for Service to Humanity by the Kingdom of Bahrain. The award carried a $ 1 million award, along with a pure gold medal and a certificate of appreciation.
The grand royal ceremony was held by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the ruler of Bahrain. The ceremony followed the recommendations of an International Jury, which selected the Edhi foundation after shortlisting several qualifiers.
According to a press release issued by the awarding committee, the honour, which is given every two years, was established in 2008 by a Royal Decree from King Hamad. It aims to recognize individuals that have dedicated their lives to humanitarian work.
Edhi Foundation, founded by Abdul Sattar Edhi, is Pakistan’s largest charity foundation, known worldwide for its humanitarian work. The foundation serves all human beings from all races, religion, nationalities without any discrimination. Faisal Edhi, son of Abdul Sattar Edhi, received the award on behalf of the foundation.
