ECP supposed to uphold respect of people’s vote: Maryam Nawaz
ISLAMABAD: Reminding the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of its constitutional responsibilities, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz said the government institute, ECP, was supposed to uphold respect of people’s vote.
“The biggest scam of Pakistan’s history is Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) foreign funding case, which was filed about six and a half years ago,” Maryam Nawaz said while addressing the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) outside the ECP headquarters in Islamabad.
The ECP held only 80 hearings in about seven years, while Nawaz’s case was heard on daily basis, she said.
The election commission formed a scrutiny committee which was responsible to investigate and produce evidence before the masses, however the body did not reveal much under pressure of the government, she claimed.
The PML-N vice president said it had been three years since the committee was formed and Imran tried 24 times to halt the case proceedings.
“The scrutiny committee itself said that they could not reveal the truth for Imran did not allow them to do so,” she said.
One of the biggest funding to the PTI in secret bank accounts was made by Israel and India, while BJP member Inderjee Dossange gave him a lot of money, she maintained.
