ECP summons Ali Gillani in leaked video case
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday summoned former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani’s son, Ali Haider Gillani, in the case pertaining to leaked video.
Before Senate elections, about a week ago, video of Ali Gillani went viral in which he tells Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) MNAs how to waste their votes.
The application against Gillani was filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s parliamentarians Kanwal Shauzab and Farrukh Habib.
The suspect would appear before the ECP on Mar 11. He had admitted that he was advising more than three PTI MNAs about how to waste their votes.
On Mar 3, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Gillani was elected as a senator on the general seat of Islamabad by bagging 169 votes. While, the PTI’s candidate Abdul Hafeez Sheikh was defeated after receiving 164 votes, in a big upset.
