ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has released schedule of the elections of Senate.
According to the schedule, the Senate elections will be held on March 3 (Wednesday), three years after the last Senate elections were held on March 3, 2018.
The candidates could submit nomination papers to the returning officer’s office on Feb 12 and 13, which would be inspected on Feb 15 and 16. ROs for four provinces and the federal capital have already been appointed. The list of nominated candidates would be displayed on Feb 14.
This may be noted that Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced to hold Senate elections before the designated time, which was rejected by the opposition parties.
The nomination papers could be withdrawn by Feb 22. So, the final list of candidates would be displayed on Feb 23. Following that, any candidate could still withdraw by 12:00 PM on March 2.
