 ECP ready to hold elections in October 2022

The Chief Election Commissioner has replied to the letter of the President regarding holding of general elections.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has sent a reply to the President apologizing for holding elections in the country in 90 days.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that an additional four months are required for a transparent and impartial election, which will be held in October.

Earlier, a letter was written by the President Dr. Arif Alvi to the Election Commission of Pakistan regarding the date of general elections.

A letter written by the Presidency to the Election Commission of Pakistan stated that the date for holding elections should be fixed within 90 days of the dissolution of the National Assembly.

In the National Assembly session held on April 3, Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri had rejected the no-confidence motion of the opposition as an international conspiracy.

Immediately after the ruling of the Deputy Speaker, Prime Minister Imran Khan addressing the nation said that he had sent a summary to the President to dissolve the National Assembly and then President Dr. Arif Alvi had dissolved the National Assembly on the suggestion of the Prime Minister.
