ECC approves extension of  power purchase agreement with Iran

ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved the extension of the power purchase agreement with Iran.

An ECC meeting was held under the chairmanship of Finance Advisor Hafeez Sheikh in which approval was given to supply additional gas from Rehman Gas Field to Sui Southern Gas Company which would provide additional 38 cubic million cubic feet of gas to SSGCL.

The ECC also approved an extension of the power purchase agreement with Iran, under which the agreement to purchase 104 MW of electricity from Iran has been extended for one year.

In addition, the Economic Co-ordination Committee approved in principle a technical grant of Rs. 109 million for the Ministry of Defense and a tax exemption for the telecom sector.
