KARACHI: Dua Mangi’s kidnappers demanded a ranson of $ 0.25 million for her release on Wednesday.

According to sources, the kidnappers demanded the ransom through WhatsApp from Mangi’s parents. In the last three days, the kidnappers have contacted Dua’s parents thrice, insisting them to pay the money as soon as possible.

Dua was abducted from Karachi’s DHA area on Saturday night near a chai-dhaaba located at Bukhari Commercial in Phase VI.

The kidnappers also shot the victim’s friend Haris Soomro on the back of his neck, who is in critical condition and being treated at Agha Khan University Hospital.

The investigators are looking into the alleged threats being received by Dua from the man she met in the United States of America while studying there. The person, whose name is yet to be known, had allegedly been building pressure on her to marry him.

According to Police, Dua made friends with a man in USA, who made many attempts of marrying her. Upon her refusal, the man started threatening her and blackmailed her to make her private pictures viral on social media. Police have detained three boys for further investigation.
