KARACHI: Police have suspected that the militant group which was involved in abduction of the teenage girl Bisma was also behind the kidnapping of 20-year-old law student Dua Mangi from the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area in Karachi.
According to a forensic analysis, the cases of the bullets shot during the incident has matched with the incident of a police encounter on Dec 5 at NIPA chowrangi, the investigators have revealed. They found that the bullets were shot from the same gun.
Police said that both the girls were abducted in the same manner from the same vicinity, which showed that they were nobbled by the same group. “They must be some professional gangsters.” In Bisma’s case, the kidnappers had received ransom from near the site of the police encounter.
Dua Mangi was kidnapped from Karachi’s Bukhari Commercial on Nov 30 and had returned back home safely on December 7. Her friend Haris Soomro was shot and injured during this incident. The militants had demanded $0.25 million ransom for releasing her.
Earlier in a statement, South Zone DIG Sharjeel Kharal had said, “It appears to be a case of kidnapping for ransom, it has been ascertained through investigation that the student was kidnapped for ransom.”
Dawn newspaper has quoted sources as saying that Dua’s parents were not cooperating with the police and were reluctant in sharing any detail.
