The people of Drosh have requested the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to appoint women doctors at Chitral hospital.
The people who live near the Taluka Hospital Drosh have said that the women in their homes have to travel to hospitals far away because of the scarcity of female doctors.
It takes some women an entire day just to travel to Peshawar for a hospital visit.
In January, the residents in the area began a protest outside the hospital and asked the district government to appoint female doctors. The protest was called off when two doctors, Zahida Parveen and Syeda Nargis were appointed on January 10.
The doctors have yet to join the hospital.
An area resident said that the government, at one point, is claiming that it is making efforts in trying to improve the access to health facilities but it doesn’t help the people when they ask for it.
The government says that it is working for women it is doing nothing in reality, a woman said.
