 Drizzle expected tonight, rains from July 15 in Karachi

KARACHI: The weather in Karachi has been pleasant since Thursday morning due to overcast skies.

The Meteorological Department has forecast drizzle in Karachi at night and partly cloudy weather in the next 24 hours.

The Meteorological Department said the minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 29 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature will remain at 36 degrees Celsius. Winds are blowing from the northwest in the city on Thursday morning. The Meteorological Department said that rains are expected in Karachi from July 15.

On June 21, Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz had predicted rain in Karachi after the first week of July. He had said the monsoon season would continue from July to mid-September. Sardar Sarfraz had said that the nature of the spell of rain could be estimated in July.

On the other hand, SSU Urban Flooding Rescue Unit has been set up to deal with the emergency situation in view of the expected arrival of monsoon rains in Karachi. Teams comprising SSU commandos will be on 24-hour alert.

The commandos of the Urban Flood Rescue Team have received lifeguard training and the unit is also able to evacuate people trapped in the water. Additional IG Karachi has inaugurated Urban Flooding Rescue.
