Dr. Murtaza Syed appointed as Acting Governor SBP

Dr. Murtaza Syed has been appointed as Acting Governor of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

According to details, Dr. Murtaza Syed, who has full experience of IMF and is a renowned economist, will now assume the post of Governor SBP.

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail said in a tweet released on social networking site Twitter that the tenure of Governor SBP Dr Raza Baqir has come to an end, adding that according to the law, the most senior deputy governor will assume office till the new appointment.

As the term of Governor SBP Dr Reza Baqir has come to an end, as per law the senior most Deputy Governor takes over until. Therefore Dr Murtaza Syed, an eminently qualified economist with rich IMF experience, will take over as Governor SBP. I wish him the best in his new role.
