Dr Adnan submits Nawaz Sharif’s latest medical report to govt
LONDON: Personal physician of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Dr Adnan Khan on Tuesday submitted the latest medical report of Nawaz Sharif to the government.
Dr Adnan Khan has shared the report of ex-prime minister on his Twitter account which has been signed by Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon David Lawrence, who has suggested a coronary angiography for Sharif saying that significant part of his heart was at risk. “I would strongly recommend urgent coronary intervention. Failure to do this could compromise his myocardium (middle muscular layer of the heart wall), his cardiac health and his well being,” he wrote in the report.
The surgeon said experts at the Guy’s and St Thomas Haematology were managing his unstable platelet count to make him safe for an invasive procedure including lymph node biopsy. The significant carotid artery further made the issue complex, he said.
“A multidisciplinary approach is warranted for his safety while undergoing invasive procedures due to co-morbidities (hypertension, diabetes and kidney disease) which carry a significant risk of bleeding and possibility of a procedural or peri-procedural adverse cardiac event,” he wrote.
In his tweet Dr Adnan Khan said former PM NawazSharif’s latest medical report along with copies of Rubidium Cardiac PET-CT Scan, Echocardiogram & Holter Analysis were submitted to the government authorities and sent directly to the concerned minister and officials as well.
The report was made public soon after Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid held a press conference on Tuesday demanding provision of fresh reports of the high-profile patient.
In the press conference, the Punjab health minister dismissed the medical reports of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif which were provided to the government earlier.
“A medical report of Nawaz Sharif was sent on Dec 27, which contained nothing new. All the diseases mentioned in the letter were already known to us,” Dr Yasmin Rashid said while addressing a press conference after a picture of the ex-PM surfaced on social media showing him having meal at a London restaurant with his those party leaders who are his close relatives as well.
If treatment of Nawaz Sharif could not be done in six weeks then it should be told that what happened during this all time, she said.
“After seeing the picture, I telephoned personal physician of the elder Sharif, Dr Adnan Khan, and asked him about the health condition, but he could not give a satisfactory answer,” she said.
The health minister stressed that Nawaz Sharif was a convict and the court had given him relief on medical grounds.
