Dozens arrested for attacking Hindu temple in Rahim Yar Khan
Police have arrested over 20 men in connection with attacking and vandalising Ganesh Mandir– a Hindu temple in Bhong Town of Rahim Yar Khan.
More arrests are expected as Dawn quoted a police official who assured that none would be spared.
Police officials have further said the police officers who showed negligence will also be held accountable.
Earlier, on Wednesday, a mob attacked and vandalised the Hindu temple after a nine-year old Hindu boy was granted bail by a local court for allegedly urinating in a local seminary.
While quoting sources, Dawn has reported that one of the suspects who also runs a gold business in Bhong and has business rivalry with some Hindu gold traders, shared a post on Facebook and instigated the Muslims to boycott Hindus.
“Bhong police had arrested the suspect but released him on the pressure of a local influential parliamentarian,” sources told Dawn.
However, the accused later deleted the post from Facebook.
