Did former CJP Saqib Nisar interfere in Nawaz Sharif case?
Unusual revelations have been made by the former Chief Justice of Gilgit Baltistan Rana M Shamim about the former Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar.
As per the reports by The News, ex CJ of Gilgit Baltistan has duly stated under the notarized affidavit. He stated that the then Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar directed a High Court judge not to allow the release of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz before the general elections of 2018.
These statements by Rana M Shamim were given under oath before the Oath Commissioner on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. There are signatures as well as a copy of CNIC of former CJ of Gilgit Baltistan on the notarized affidavit.
The lawyers of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz moved in the court for the release of both of them but the hearing was adjourned till the end of July.
Before the general elections in 2018, Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz were convicted under graft case by the accountability court.
As per the former judge of the top court of Gilgit Baltistan, he learned about the instructions of then CJP Saqib Nisar during the vacation visit of the latter in Gilgit.

Meanwhile, former Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar has denied all the allegations and said that this is all a lie and there is no truth in the statements given by Rana M Shamim. Saqib Nisar further mentioned that Rana M Shamim asked for an extension in his tenure as Chief Justice of Gilgit Baltistan but he was not provided with one.

PTI leaders have shared their opinions regarding the matter and rebuffed the issue by terming it “propaganda”.
Islamabad High Court took the notice of the issue and has served the notice of Contempt of Court to Rana M Shamim.
Media reports reveal that the notarization of Rana Shamim’s statement and medical report of Nawaz Sharif was done by the same person.
Opposition parties are demanding an investigation of the issue. As Shahid Khaqan said during a presser, “If Nawaz Sharif can go to jail then why not Saqib Nisar?”
Shahid Khaqan mentioned that whoever is guilty in this matter should be severely punished.
