‘Words used in Musharraf case verdict are beyond humanity, religion’: DG ISPR

Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor is addressing a press conference at General Headquarters (GHQ), in Rawalpindi.
During the press conference the DG ISPR has raised his concern over the detailed verdict released by Special Court against former president Pervez Musharraf in the high treason case.
Just after starting the conference, Major General Asif Ghafoor expressed his concern over the detailed verdict from the special court.
“The concerns expressed over brief verdict against General (retd) Pervez Musharraf proved to be true in detailed verdict,” said ISPR.
DG ISPR further said that the words used in the verdicts are harsh and beyond religion and humanity.
“The words used in detailed verdict are against religious and civilian values.”
While defending Musharraf, DG ISPR said Pakistan Army has always defended Pakistan and its institution.
“We know how to protect integrity of the country,” he said and added we are under oath always to safeguard the country’s interests and we have proven this in the past with the support of the nation.
Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that the words used in detailed verdict are “beyond humanity, religion, culture and any other values”. “Pakistan Army is not just an institution, it is a family. We know how to defend the country and how to defend the honour and dignity of our institution.”
