Dengue becomes new threat to Karachi

KARACHI: People were once terrified to visit Karachi because of its street crimes, but now it seems like that different diseases have taken over the metropolitan city. Rabies, polio, naegleria and dengue are new threats to the city. 

It is reported on Monday that 207 people have been diagnosed with dengue virus within the span of 24 hours in Karachi.

13, 458 people have fallen ill due to the disease in the province of Sindh alone during the ongoing year.

Karachi, the metropolis has the biggest number of dengue victims within Sindh with the current affectees exceeding the figure of 12,500.

According to reports, around 14 people are under treatment in various private and public sector hospitals of the province. Meanwhile, the total number of treated and discharged patients in 6993 till today.

Around five new cases of dengue have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa yesterday, increasing the total number of cases of the epidemic to 7007.

Earlier in Karachi, on November 11, two people died of dengue and on November 15, dengue fever claimed another life, taking the death toll to 36, this year so far.
