Defamation Case: Arrest warrant issued against Shahbaz Gill
Bailable arrest warrants issued against Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Gill by Lahore sessions court in a defamation case on Thursday (today).
Albayrak Group filed a defamatory case against Shahbaz after Gill’s remarks about the company in a talk show on the private news channel. In the petition, the company mentioned that derogatory remarks by Shahbaz Gill has caused harm to the reputation of the company which Gill presented without any proper evidence. Earlier, Gill during a talk show alleged that Albayrak Group signed the contract for the project at the rate of $3.68 per kilometre, however, $1.85 per kilometre was allegedly going to Suleman Shahbaz, son of PML-N leader Shehbaz Sharif.
Hussain Azhar Shah, Additional Sessions Judge heard the petition against Shahbaz. The defendant was supposed to be present in the court but he and his counsel were absent from the court. As per the reports, the acquittal was on the cards today but Gill being absent from the court delayed the process. The court has issued bailable warrants against the submission of surety bonds worth Rs 30,000.
Court has summoned Shahbaz to personally appear in the court on the next hearing which is scheduled on November 1. The hearing has been adjourned till the next hearing.
