KARACHI: Death toll in five-storey building collapse incident has risen to four, while 22 others have been injured near Golimar in Rizvia Society, Karachi, on Thursday.
Several families, including one of the owner’s, were residing in the building which was constructed two years ago. Police and Rangers personnel have also arrived for rescue works. The injured have been shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical assistance.
One of the dead has been identified as Ghulam Mustafa. An injured woman told that occasionally there would be some construction and demolition work going on on the ground floor. Five people are reportedly still under the rubble and they are crying for help.

Different portions were created in the building and sold, said residents of the area. On every floor of the edifice there were two families residing. The houses adjacent to the building have been vacated as two adjacent buildings have also been partially damaged.
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah have taken notice of the incident. CM Murad Shah has sought details of the incident.
The deadly incident is a question mark on performance of the Sindh Building Control Authority.
