Death certificates no longer required for burials in Karachi
Karachi AIG Ghulam Nabi Memon has instructed police not to ask people who have died of natural causes for death certificates.
People used to to contact police stations to get a permit from the Department to bury their deceased in graveyards.
AIG Memon said on Thursday the police are not permitted to ask the family of the deceased for a death certificate to be granted a NOC.
He says the SOPs provided by the government to avoid the spread of coronavirus will be followed if the department of health or the respective deputy commissioner confirms that the deceased has been infected with coronavirus.
Karachi is one of the worst-affected cities by the coronavirus. So far, it has reported 6,870 infections.
