DC suspends registration of Lahore’s elite school after torture incident

The district commissioner on Wednesday suspended the registration of a private school in Lahore’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) after a group of student tortured fellow girl in school premises.
The owner and principal of the private school appeared before DC Lahore Muhammad Ali.
DC Mohammad Ali decided on suspending the school’s registration after hearing the arguments from parties in the case over District Education Authority’s (DEA) recommendations stated in its inquiry report.
The school management has also been directed to submit its reply on the recommendations of the inquiry report at the next hearing.
The registration of the educational institution will remain suspended till the next hearing of the case.
Meanwhile, the parents of the victim girl have not submitted any written reply. DC also directed them to submit their reply on next hearing.
Earlier a day, Lahore’s private school has suspended four girls including the victim in case of torture on a female student that sparks a huge outcry on social media.
The school administration has also formed a 3-member inquiry committee to probe the case. The inquiry committee has been directed to complete the investigation within 10 days and submit the report.

Earlier on Friday, the video of a girl being tortured by her class fellows at an elite private school in Lahore has gone viral on social media.
Lahore Police have registered a case against the suspects under sections 337A (i), 354, and 379 of the PPC.
Imran Younas, the victim’s father, claimed that her daughter’s schoolmate Jannat is a drug addict who wanted his daughter to join her company.
He added that when his daughter refused, Jannat along with her sister Umaima and others attacked her, dragged her to the canteen, humiliated and tortured her.
A day after, Lahore’s local court has granted pre-arrest bail to three girls involved in the brutal torture on fellow girl at private school.
The court has also barred the authorities from arresting the girls till January 30.
