Daharki train accident: Maryam bashes govt for criminal negligence
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Monday bashed the ruling government for not accepting its criminal negligence and incompetence after eight big train accidents.
“How tyrant and senseless people are ruling Pakistan who are not ready to accept their criminal negligence and incompetence even after eight big train mishaps within three years? My prayers and best wishes are with all the people who lost their loved ones in these accidents. May Allah (SWT) forgive them all. Amen,” Maryam Nawaz wrote in a tweet.
She gave this statement after the Daharki train accident in which 36 people lost their lives and more than 40 others were injured on Monday morning.
Another senior PML-N leader and former railways minister Saad Rafique said that he believed that the railways would inspect the accident. He said he hoped that facts related to Ghotki train accident would be made public and they would not be concealed.
On the other hand, Federal Minister for Railways Azam Khan Swati announced that the government would give Rs1.5 million compensation to heirs of the victims who lost their lives.
He visited site of the accident and directed the relevant authorities to expedite rescue activities.
