Cracker blast near Karachi’s Nazimabad Underpass kills one

A man was killed during a cracker explosion near Nazimabad Underpass in Karachi on Friday while six others were wounded.

One of the wounded is in critical condition and all the victims have been moved to a hospital by rescue workers. Several units of police and rangers have cordoned off the area, and are looking for evidence.

The explosion happened, police say, outside an Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program building. They believe a Rangers vehicle was targeted.

We are seeking to buy the incident’s CCTV footage to determine what happened, police said.

It is the third attack today (Friday) on the Rangers in Sindh. A blast occurred at around 11 am in Ghotki killing two Rangers staff and one passerby.

Five others also suffered injuries. The nature of both blasts is yet to be determined.

There were no casualties arising from a third assault at Larkana. For the attacks, a banned militant organization has claimed responsibility.
