Crackdown to be started against sugar mafia, says Imran Khan

Directions of a crackdown against the sugar mafia were given by Prime Minister Imran Khan during a meeting addressed for price and inflation control on Monday (today).
The Prime Minister was briefed by the government officials that Pakistan has surplus reserves of sugar in the country. But sugar prices are going upwards because many middlemen artificially created a shortage of sugar by hoarding the stock.
Many important decisions were made in the meeting as Imran Khan has ordered the officials to make sure that Sugar Factories Control Amendment Act 2021 is being implemented against the sugar mafia. And it should be made sure that artificial commodities shortage be addressed and hoarders should not be tolerated.
Crushing of sugar cane will be started from November 15 whereas Prime Minister Imran Khan directed to bring all the available stock of sugar in the Pakistani market.
