Covid-19 situation worsens, positivity rate spikes to 35pc in Karachi
Karachi: Covid-19 fifth wave is getting worse in Karachi as the positive cases ratio increased to 35pc.
A total of 4,286 new positive cases have been detected in the country in the last 24 hours, according to official figures released at the federal and provincial level. Of these, the 2,009 cases were only reported in Karachi.
While sharing the daily reports on the status of Covid-19, the Chief Minister said: No deaths due to complications of infectious disease in any part of Sindh had been reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll was 7,691 till last Friday, He added.
Murad Ali Shah said 13,219 samples have been tested, detecting 1648 cases equal to a 12.5% detection rate, adding that 7,295,420 tests have been performed so far with 490,285 cases diagnosed and 469,353 patients have recovered.
On the other hand, Chief Minister said that there is no chance of imposing Lockdown in the province as the health conditions are under control, adding that, even the economy could not stand with restrictions imposed on business. He further added we will cooperate with federal government with the decision of Lockdown.
The federal cabinet has decided not to impose a lockdown on the country despite a sudden rise in Covid-19 cases.
