Covid-19 patients died due to five minute halt in oxygen supply in India
Five minute of halt in oxygen supply killed at least 11 covid-19 patients at a hospital in India.
The incident happened at Ruia Hospital located in Chittoor district of India’s Andhra Pradesh state.
“There was a five-minute lag in reloading the oxygen cylinder that caused the pressure to drop, resulting in the deaths,” said district official M Hari Narayanan.
However, 30 doctors immediately rushed to the victims but unfortunately couldnt save them.
According to Hari Naryanan, the oxygen supply problem has been solved but if this happens again it would lead to more deaths.
700 Covid-19 patients were undergoing treatment in the ICU and oxygen beds in Ruia while another 300 were in normal wards.
Earlier, at least 24 Covid-19 patients died in a hospital in Nashik city after they lost oxygen supply due to a leak.
Most of them were on ventilator or oxygen support, suffocated to death after their oxygen supply stopped suddenly because of a malfunction in the main storage at Dr Zakir Hussain Hospital.
