 COVID-19: KP govt directs to close madrassas

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has directed to shut down madrassas across the province because of the rising number of coronavirus cases.

The notification issued by Home and Tribal Areas Department read that the ban was imposed in the light of the decision of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) and in case of violation of the law, action would be taken against those responsible.

While, Home Secretary Ikramullah Khan said that the KP government had taken this decision in the best interest of the people and the Ulema should cooperate with the government till they deal with covid-19.

“The competent authority is pleased to close all kinds of educational activities (Dars o Tadrees) in religious seminaries throughout the province till further orders,” read the notification.
