Court extends Imran’s interim bail till October 13 in terrorism case

The local court of Islamabad on Thursday extended the pre-arrest bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan till October 13 in the case registered against him for threatening District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry.
Islamabad Magistrate Rana Mujahid Rahim had issued the arrest warrant of former Prime Minister Imran Khan on September 30 for not appearing in the case registered on August 20.
Imran Khan’s arrest warrant was issued in the case of threatening female Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhary.
Chairman PTI Imran Khan appeared in the court of Sessions Judge Kamran Basharat Mufti.
Chairman PTI Imran Khan’s lawyers filed an interim bail petition.
After a brief hearing Sessions court judge Kamran Basharat Mufti approved the bail plea of the PTI chief till October 13 against surety bonds of Rs50,000.
The case:
Addressing a rally in Islamabad on August 20, PTI Chairman Imran Khan had threatened to file a case against the IG and DIG of Islamabad Police and said, “We will not spare you.”
After that, he also warned the judiciary for having a biased attitude towards his party and said that, “now they too should be ready for the consequences.”
Imran Khan had also warned Additional and Sessions female Judge Zeba Chaudhry that, “she would also have to face serious consequences.”
After which a case was registered against the former Prime Minister Imran Khan under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) in Margalla Police Station on the complaint of Magistrate Sadar Islamabad, Ali Javed.
The FIR reads, “On August 20, a rally was held under the leadership of Imran Khan against the arrest of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill from Zero Point to F9 Park, during which Imran Khan started intimidating and threatening the top officers of the Islamabad Police and a respected female Additional and sessions Judge.”
Sections 504/506 and 188/189 were imposed against Imran Khan in the case registered in Margalla police station.
Later, On September 19, The Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered police to remove Anti-terrorism Act (ATA) sections from terrorism case registered against PTI Chairman Imran Khan for threatening additional and sessions judge Zeba Chaudhry.
