WASHINGTON: The United States recorded more than 1,500 deaths caused by coronavirus in last twenty-four hours.
According to the Johns Hopkins University tracker, an unprecedented number of deaths were counted between Thursday and Friday.
The total number of people who have died since the start of the pandemic in the United States has reached 7,406 and infection cases have crossed the figure of 273,000.
Meanwhile, the Group of 77 and China have called for an end to unilateral sanctions against developing countries during the coronavirus crisis.
In a statement at the UN, the coalition of developing nations said the application of unilateral coercive economic measures will have a negative impact on the capacity of states to respond efficiently.
It warned that such measures would affect targeted countries’ acquisition of medical equipment and supplies to adequately treat their populations in the face of this pandemic.
It also called upon the international community to adopt urgent and effective measures to eliminate the use of unilateral coercive economic measures against developing countries.
