KARACHI: Registration of dozens of schools has been suspended in Karachi over violation of the Sindh government’s order for closure of educational institutes amid fear of coronavirus in the country.
Sindh Private Institutions Director General Mansoob Siddiqui visited different areas of the megalopolis and issued the orders for suspension of those schools which were found to be open despite the government’s clear instructions against it.
The schools whose registrations have been suspended are located in Landhi, Lyari, Korangi, Gulshan e Hadeed and other areas of the city. Registration of JB Memorial, Pak Model, and Oxford schools has been suspended in Nazimabad. In Landhi, Iqbal Public, Toheed Public and AMs schools have been given penalty. Registration of Al-Hadi International and DH New Generation schools has been suspended in Surjani. Kids Zone, Star Kinds and ABC schools in Korangi have also been suspended. While, Abdali Academy, Al-Shams, Elvinier and E-Complex schools in Gulshan-e-Hadeed have been suspended.

According to the press release issued by Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions Sindh, DG private institutions has summoned heads of all the suspended schools.
The chairman Board of Secondary Education has also been directed to take immediate action against private schools for violation of the government order.
On Mar 1, the Sindh government had, through a notification, directed all the schools, colleges and universities across the province to shut down till March 13 amid fear of coronavirus outbreak in the country.
