Coronavirus kills more than 33,000 worldwide

More than 33,000 people have died from coronavirus infection worldwide and the number of confirmed cases passed 700,000 on Monday.

According to AFP tally, more than 3.38 billion people remain under lockdown.

US extends social distancing until April 30

US President Donald Trump has said coronavirus guidelines such as social distancing will be extended across the country until at least April 30.

Speaking during the latest coronavirus Task Force press briefing in Washington, the president said that measures such as social distancing were the way to win and US would be well on its way to recovery by June.

Moscow imposes lockdown

In Moscow the government has imposed a lockdown in a bid to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced the strict new isolation measures after many people refused to heed official recommendations to self-isolate.

In Russia, so far reported 1,534 cases of coronavirus and eight deaths, with more than one thousand infections in the capital Moscow.
