Coronavirus in Pakistan: death toll soars to 224, infection cases to over 10,500

ISLAMABAD: The total number of coronavirus infection cases in the country has climbed to 10,513 and death toll to 224, with 15 new deaths.
The infection cases include Punjab, 4,590, Sindh, 3,373, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,453, Balochistan 552, Islamabad Capital Territory 204, Gilgit-Baltistan 290, and Azad Kashmir 51 cases.
According to National Command and Operation Center, so far 2,337 patients of Coronavirus have been recovered, while breakup of 224 deaths is as follows: 69in Sindh, 58 in Punjab, 83 in KP, three in ICT, 8 in Balochistan and 3 in GB. 60 other patients are in a critical condition.

124,549 tests have been conducted since outbreak of the pandemic. Local transmission is 79 percent and foreign travel 21 percent. The government has made ready 717 hospitals with Covid facilities with 2779 patients admitted across the country.
On Apr 22, Prime Minister Imran Khan visited Corona Hospital in Rawalpindi that has been set up by Pakistan Red Crescent Society.
Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society Abrar ul Haq gave a detailed briefing to the prime minister on steps taken by the Red Crescent in the prevailing situation.
The hospital set up by Red Crescent can accommodate one hundred patients.
The prime minister was also briefed on other facilities in the hospital including operation theater, x-ray, ultrasound, laboratory and pharmacy.
