Coronavirus in Pakistan: death toll climbs to 253, infection cases to 11,940

ISLAMABAD: The total number of coronavirus infection cases in the country has risen to 11,940 and death toll to 253 on Saturday morning.

The infection cases include 5,046 in Punjab, Sindh, 3,945, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,708, Balochistan, 656, Islamabad Capital Territory, 223, Gilgit-Baltistan, 307, and Azad Kashmir 55 cases.

According to the National Command and Operation Center, so far 2,755 patients of Coronavirus have been recovered, while 253 deaths are as follows: Sindh: 75, Punjab: 73, KP: 89, ICT: 03, Balochistan: 10 and GB: 03. 127 other patients are in a critical condition.

138,147 tests have been conducted since outbreak of the pandemic. Local transmission is 79 percent and foreign travel 21 percent. The government has made ready 717 hospitals with Covid facilities with 3037 patients admitted across the country.

A group of senior lady doctors on Friday held a press conference in Karachi and begged from people to stay at homes and stay protected from coronavirus.

They said that the nation would have to take preventive measures so that the healthcare system does not reach such a point at which the capacity of dealing with patients at ICUs get exhausted.
