Coronavirus in Pakistan: death toll climbs to 237, infection cases to 11,155

ISLAMABAD: The total number of coronavirus infection cases in the country has soared to 11,155 and death toll to 237 on Friday morning.
The infection cases include Punjab, 4,767, Sindh, 3,671, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,541, Balochistan, 607, Islamabad Capital Territory, 214, Gilgit-Baltistan, 300, and Azad Kashmir, 55, cases.

According to the National Command and Operation Center, so far 2,527 patients of Coronavirus have been recovered, while 237 died (Sindh: 73, Punjab: 65, KP: 85, ICT: 03, Balochistan: 08 and GB: 03) and 111 others are in a critical condition.
131,365 tests have been conducted since outbreak of the pandemic. Local transmission is 79 percent and foreign travel 21 percent. The government has made ready 717 hospitals with Covid facilities with 2867 patients admitted across the country.
On Apr 23, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said Pakistan may witness the hardest period of coronavirus in May this year.
PM Imran had said “Never the world has ever witnessed a virus which spreads which such a speed.”
He had asked people to offer prayer at home during Ramadan and avoid going out unnecessarily. Alhamdulillah, coronavirus cases in Pakistan had been reported less than predicted, he had said.
