KARACHI: Death toll from coronavirus has reached nine, while the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country has climbed to 1,235 on Friday.                                                                            

According to latest statistics, these included 429 in Sindh, 408 in Punjab, 131 in Balochistan, 147 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 91 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 27 in Islamabad and two in Azad Kashmir.

Twenty-three Coronavirus patients have recovered so far while nine died of the disease. Seven patients are in critical condition.

Thirty-seven pilgrims have been allowed to leave the Quarantine center in Dera Ghazi Khan upon showing negative results regarding the coronavirus.

According to spokesperson of District Administration Multan, 25 of the pilgrims hail from Multan, 10 from tehsil Shuja Abad and two from Jalal Pur Pirwala.

These zaireens were brought to Dera Ghazi Khan’s quarantine center from Taftan and allowed to leave after negative test reports.

In a statement, Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr. Zafar Mirza Friday said the government was taking all possible steps at a fast pace to contain spread of coronavirus in the country.

He said a team of eight Chinese doctors will arrive in Pakistan on Saturday (tomorrow).

The special assistant said the Chinese team of doctors would review Pakistan’s steps taken to check spread of coronavirus and provide technical support.

He said, “We will fully benefit from the experiences of the Chinese doctors.”
