The Punjab Cabinet Committee on Corona Anti-Corona has reported that the number of coronavirus’ patients and deaths has been on the rise for the past few days.

The meeting of the Cabinet Committee was chaired by Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat and was attended by Health Minister Dr. Yasmeen Rashid, Mian Aslam Iqbal, and senior officials of the concerned departments.

It was informed in the meeting that the previous wave of Corona in Punjab came after Sindh and Karachi, and now that the situation has improved, the number of Corona cases and deaths is increasing again.

The meeting was informed that Gujranwala, Nankana Sahib and Gujarat are high risk districts. If people do not take precaution, smart lockdown can be carried out again in the affected areas.

The committee was told that security measures need to be tightened in Punjab, adding that masks and social distance restrictions are not observed in gatherings and wedding halls.

The Anti-Corona Committee decided that the Punjab Health Department should set up new SOPs which should be fully implemented and a public awareness campaign should also be launched.
