KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Friday rejected the petition against the Sindh government’s recommendation to block mobile SIMs.
Hearing of a petition was held against the recommendation to block mobile SIMs and social IDs of those people who did not receive coronavirus jab.
The court dismissed the petition. Justice Shafi Mohammad Siddiqui remarked that the government was concerned not only about one person but it was concerned about lawyers too. He said a coronavirus patient affected 200 more people.
The complainant argued that the government could not force anyone to get the COVID-19 shot. “Vaccination is a public responsibility,” he said.
Advocate Sohail Hameed told the court that the government would have to legislate first. Justice Shafi Mohammad Siddiqui said that how he could talk about legislation as a person infected with the coronavirus was a walking bomb in the city. He also queried if there was any notification issued regarding blocking SIMs.
It should be noted that a week ago, on July 23, the Sindh government had asked the NCOC to block the mobile SIMs of those who have not been vaccinated in the province.
