Congress confirms Joe Biden’s US election victory after riot disrupts Capitol

Congress has just confirmed US President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory over Donal Trump.
The counting of Vermont’s three electoral votes put Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris over the 270-threshold needed to win the presidency, CNN reported.
Soon after the confirmation of Biden’s Electoral College victory, Trump said the decision “represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history.” He “totally disagreed” with the result, however he said that he would leave the office through orderly transition on Jan 20.
The certification was announced several hours after a mob in support of Trump stormed the US Capitol.
